Lurker Update: There really was a lurker, or several...in our basement. It was a family of raccoons who decided our dog food was good enough for their dining pleasure and kept coming back night after !@#* night to raid the pantry. They ate their way through 30 of 40 pounds of dog food in 5 nights! Their entrance was the doggy door, which is now locked.
| Death Tally | carollynn said:updated tally - now up to 8 pairs of shoes destroyed- including one zebra stripe sandal that I LOVED! The downstairs bathroom floor, the clear plastic shower curtain, 3 rugs...will it never end?

| She is gone | Matthew said:Abby was a great dog to know. One of my fondest memories of her was when she would come to visit. There would be times that she would have to stay at the house in her box. It was an adventure every time you got back to the house to see where her box would end up. My neighbor watched her one time thru the window after I left. Abby could make the crate walk across the floor and would end up several rooms away from where she started. I have never seen any other animal do something like that. She was a very special and wonderful dog to a lot of people. God has called home another angel to play in the green fields of heaven. I will miss you and always remember.
Matthew
One afternoon, I was in the backyard hanging the laundry when an old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. But when I walked into the house, he followed me, sauntered down the hall and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back. He resumed his position in the hallway and slept for an hour.
This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap. "
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with ten children - he's trying to catch up on his sleep."
I cried from laughter
